How Are They Linked?

Three classifications of ADHD are known, which includes   the inattentive type, the hyperactive type, and the combined type. The inattentive type is the one that normally loses focus on what he is doing. This person forgets things quickly and gets easily distracted.  Also, the inattentive types have difficulties processing information and following instructions.

The hyperactive types, on the contrary, are the attention seekers. They always have hard time staying in one place for any length of time or are constantly in motion. The hyperactive types are very impatient and they tend to say anything they want to say, even it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

While the symptoms ADD might present itself with may be different between each of the types of ADHD, most are commonly treated using prescription medications. However, research suggests that people with ADHD often have vitamin B deficiencies. It therefore makes sense to focus on boosting these necessary vitamins.

Vitamin B is not a single vitamin, but a group of vitamins that plays an important role in the metabolism of cells, especially enhancing the immune and nervous system’s function. Vitamin B1 and B12 are the B complex vitamins that have a great effect in the normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B1 helps in the normal functioning of the brain and Vitamin B12 helps in making sure that the nervous system runs correctly.

The reduced ability to transfer nerve signals has a big contribution in why people having ADHD have difficulties in processing information and easily forgets things. Studies also showed that this condition is also triggered when a person has Vitamin B deficiency. Given this facts, we can say that ADHD and Vitamin B have a relationship together.

Therefore, in addition to having enough exercise, eating a healthy diet, getting psychiatric assessments, and physical examinations, having a daily intake of vitamin B supplements and eating foods rich in vitamin B may reduce the symptoms of ADHD. Vitamin B complex does not directly cure ADHD; instead, they help in lessening the symptoms of the condition.
